The Library is primarily meant for Research and Reference to all those who are working in the area of Women’s Studies and Women’s Movement.

The Library acts as a Clearing House of Information in the area of Women’s Studies and provides a number of information services to its users personally and through phone/ post and E-mail. 

 


Current Awareness Bulletin

For over two decades, the CWDS Library through its “Documentation Bulletin” and “Recent Additions” has been providing a valuable service to the users in keeping them abreast with current information appearing in the form of books, conference documents and reports, periodical articles and newspapers items being added to the collection. From 1998, the two bulletins have been combined and new service has been renamed as the “Current Awareness Bulletin”. This monthly service is being used by researchers as well as publishers and it is mailed to subscribers on the payment of Rs.100.00 per year.


Current Contents of Journals

In order to highlight the contents of the periodicals received in the Library, an in-house “Current Contents” service has been introduced in year of 1998. This is a fortnightly service.


Reference and Information Services

All kinds of reference assistance and guidance is provided to the Library users.

Database Search - OPAC

The Library facilitates to access its bibliographic databases i.e. Mahila (Main Database) and Docbul (Article Database) through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) and print outs of the bibliographical details. 
        The charges for:
            · accessing the database are: Rs. 25/-  for half an hour
            · Printing @ Rs.2 per page


Electronic Databases

The Library also makes available to its users access of some of the Electronic databases. Notable among these are:

           J-STOR: The Scholarly Journal Archive








          
           ISID Research Reference CD-ROM

          
The RRCD has the following four sections:
                i. Index to articles, discussion notes, editorials and reports appearing in 105
                   Indian journals;

               ii. Index to signed articles and write-ups, published in 15 English language
                  daily newspapers;

              iii. Select policy documents; and

              iv. Website addresses of important institutions and organisations.


Internet Facility

The Library has an access to Internet facility with broadband connectivity.  This facilitate to access the Internet and Emails at faster speed.  This facility is provided to the Library users on the request.  


Reprographic Service

This facility is used extensively by the researchers. The photocopying charges are Re.1/- per page.

Inter-Library Loan

The Library offers inter-library loan service to its faculty staff for the documents not available in the CWDS Library by procuring them from other libraries within Delhi. Also the Library in turns lends its resources to other libraries.

CWDS Library has received grant from the Ford Foundation for three years since October 2004 to access important archival collections: Arts and Science I, II, III and IV through JSTOR. The collection includes 394 academic journals, focusing on humanities and social sciences. The CWDS Library extends this facility to its own faculty and as well as its users.
