Announcing Ph.D. Programme in
Women’s Studies for the year 2009-10

The Centre for Women’s Development Studies (CWDS) is pleased to announce its participation in offering the IGNOU-CWDS Ph.D. Programme in Women’s Studies from the academic year 2009-10, through an MoU signed with the Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi.   The CWDS will be responsible for offering a direct face-to-face Ph.D. programme with initial course requirements that will be offered by CWDS faculty and guest lecturers.

Interested candidates should consult BOTH this website and the website of IGNOU <<www.ignou.ac.in>> for information regarding eligibility of candidates.  Besides the minimum criteria laid down by the university for admission to all Ph.D programmes, screening will be done based on the following criteria - academic performance at M.Phil/ Master’s level, postgraduate degree in relevant discipline, teaching and/or work experience,  and demonstrable evidence of research publications/interest in women’s and gender issues. Selections will be done on the basis of the above criteria by a screening committee, as per IGNOU admission procedures.

All candidates for the IGNOU-CWDS programme should send a research proposal as part of their application.

Application forms should be downloaded from the IGNOU website, and a copy sent to both IGNOU and CWDS.

Applications should be received by both IGNOU and CWDS in time for the July semester.

Candidates will be short-listed for interview during July and classes will commence by August.  Efforts will be made to provide successful candidates with fellowship support.

Last date for receipt of application for consideration for the CWDS face-to-face Ph.D Programme for 2009-10:
